Canned haggis production steps up for Burns Night

As Burns Night approaches, a Scotland-based food company has increased production of it’s canned Haggis to celebrate the life and poetry of National Bard Robert Burns. Grant’s of Ayrshire, where Burn’s was born, said it was seeing “heightened seasonal demand” for its famous local product. “Interest has increased notably over the past year driven by renewed brand positioning, stronger digital engagement and closer collaboration with retail and wholesale partners,” the company said.
This growth in demand has risen “following a brand relaunch in October 2025, supported by expanded partnerships across retail, charity, foodservice and wholesale channels,” Grant’s told The Canmaker.

“We’re seeing a real shift in how customers view canned food,” commented Holly Bryan, Marketing and Business Development Manager at Grant’s. “They want premium quality, bold flavours and flexibility, without paying restaurant prices.” “Our focus is on delivering chef-level recipes in a format that works for modern life, whether that’s traditional Haggis or globally inspired dishes. The response since our relaunch has been incredibly energising, and it’s driving everything from innovation to international expansion,” she added. The 140-year-old company ships 12-packs of cans of its cooked meat meals, which have earned accolades in the industry; its Roast Gammon and Italian Style Meatballs were Highly Commended at food industry awards last year.

Furthermore, the company achieved AA grade in the BRCGS Food Safety Certification, the highest possible award. Alongside it’s flagship Haggis, Grant’s portfolio includes a Signature Range and a new Chef Collection, which is being developed in-house and giving customers a dining-out experience at home for a fraction of the cost, while delivering the same restaurant standard and quality”.

Tinplate steel cans are supplied by Trivium Packaging, and the products are canned onsite in controlled, small batch production “to ensure consistent quality and food safety”. Most of the range is packed in two-piece cans, with the Haggis, Black Pudding and A&B Roll products packed in three-piece cans. A&B roll is a Grant’s speciality. A combination of tender, savoury corned beef, slow-cooked and cured with traditional spices, and paired with crispy smoky bacon.

The products are exported to 50 countries, including in the EU, and the company is planning growth into the Australia and New Zealand markets “driven by strong response from online customers and international partners seeking premium canned foods with strong provenance and dependable quality”.

Grant’s is also using it’s “expertise in canning” to develop plant-based recipes in
shelf-stable formats for plant-based brand Cock & Bull.
